Stone King marks growth with office move and new “smart working” facilities

Bath law firm, Stone King has announced it has purchased a new premises in central Bath to “accommodate ongoing growth.”

In February 2018, the firm is moving the majority of its Bath-based employees and partners into premises on the second floor at Upper Borough Court, Upper Borough Walls, opposite Waitrose.

Stone King claims that clients “will not be affected by the move.” The firm’s main reception area for clients and client meeting rooms will remain at Stone King’s offices at 12 and 13 Queen Square – a former residence of Jane Austin – where it has been based since 1832.

The newly refurbished premises will primarily “bring together” Stone King’s people currently based at 18 Queen Square and Beauford House, in Princes Street, into one office “with space for further expansion.” According to Stone King, employees will benefit from “bespoke facilities” in a central location that is a four-minute walk from the firm’s Queen Square headquarters.

Steven Greenwood, managing partner at Stone King, said: “This move is a very positive way for us to begin the New Year. Ten years ago Stone King had 126 people nationwide. We now have more than 150 in Bath alone, with further expansion in the pipeline. Moving under one roof into an open plan environment will support our ethos of working together as one firm, rather than in the different sectors we cover.”

Stone King is a national law firm with more than 240 people across offices in Bath, Leeds, London, Cambridge and Birmingham. The firm provides “specialist legal advice and solutions” to the four sectors of education; charity and social enterprise; business; and private client.

Steven continued: “Coinciding with this move we are also developing our smart working practices, which will give our people more flexibility and support them in keeping a healthy work-life balance. This will greatly benefit Stone King by helping recruitment and productivity.”
