Three Ways School teacher wins national prize for food and nutrition education

Three Ways School Food Technology teacher, Rosalie Forde has been awarded a British Nutrition Foundation Education Award, recognising the school’s dedication to food and nutrition education. The award was presented during the British Nutrition Foundation’s annual awards ceremony, which highlights and celebrates those who have made positive and important contributions within the food and nutrition community.

The British Nutrition Foundation Education Awards were first established to highlight food qualifications and recognise the achievements of top students – originally at GCSE and later at A-level (or equivalents). Unfortunately, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on examinations over the last two years, it hasn’t been possible to award students. However, in 2021, the Education Awards have been given to six outstanding teachers from across the UK who have consistently championed food and nutrition education.

The recipients of British Nutrition Foundation Education Awards were nominated by their peers or employers for their application of accurate nutrition science into effective classroom practice and/or remote learning strategies. Winners have received a framed commemorative certificate, as well as £200 to support food education in their school.

Roy Ballam, Managing Director and Head of Education at the British Nutrition Foundation, said, “A huge congratulations to Rosalie and all of this year’s Education Award winners. The past two years have been hugely challenging for all working in education and we are enormously proud of all of the teaching staff who have been undeterred in their commitment to inspire and educate young minds on the importance of healthy eating and nutrition.”
