Food and drink gift hamper producer Taste of Bath has appointed longstanding employee Jo Cox to be its Operations Director as part of a new operational and strategic phase for the business.

In her newly created role, Jo now owns 33.33 per cent of the company, while Helen Rich as Managing Director and Founder retains 66.67 per cent.

To facilitate the new shareholder agreement, Taste of Bath worked with three Bath-based businesses – accountants Richardson Swift, independent financial advisors Unividual and law firm Thrings LLP.

The move is the next step on the journey to creating ‘The Taste of Group’ and expanding its award-winning model to multiple cities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taste of Bath saw unprecedented levels of demand for business gifting. Clients needed to be able to support and reward their employees, build relationships with customers, partners and suppliers and go after new business, all without the traditional face to face team building, sales and networking they would usually rely on.

In search of a solution, many turned to Taste of Bath, which as a result has grown by 70 per cent.

Jo has been leading the Taste of Bath warehouse team since 2017, and during COVID-19 she stepped up to take on the role of Operations Manager. Post-COVID, it became evident that to retain the growth and pursue further expansion, the company needed more people at leadership level. Jo is a vital part of the business, instrumental in delivering on its service standards, and customer service ethos and leading the team in alignment with its core values.

Helen Rich, Taste of Bath Managing Director, said, “As a founder, it can be hard to relinquish your role as ‘sole owner’, but Jo has become my right hand, and she embodies all our key values of authenticity, integrity and exceptional customer service. I trust Jo with Taste of Bath, our clients, our team and our reputation – you can’t ask for more than that in a business partner. Plus we have a right laugh, whether it’s packing hundreds of hampers before the courier arrives or down at the pub after a long week!”

Jo added, “Working with Helen has always been a full-on experience – there are no half measures, it’s an absolute commitment to our customers and to the highest possible quality of products and service! We are totally aligned on those values and that’s what really makes our partnership work. The more we grow, the more we can support our producers, clients and charity partners – and that’s what really drives us on.”
