The latest proposals for the former Bath Gasworks site will go on display to the public over three days at the end of May as St William seeks further feedback from the local community before submitting a planning application later in the year.
St William was formed as a joint venture between the Berkley Group and National Grid to regenerate underutilised gasworks and gasholder sites, including Bath Gasworks.
The second public exhibition for the Bath Gasworks site will take place over three days at two locations in the city:
- Wednesday 25th May: 12noon – 4pm at Green Park Station Foyer, Green Park Road, Bath, BA1 1JB
- Thursday 26th May: 5pm – 8pm at Coffee #1, Bath Riverside, Bath, BA2 3GG
- Saturday 28th May: 11am – 3pm at Green Park Station Foyer, Green Park Road, Bath, BA1 1JB
The information displayed at the public exhibition and an online feedback form will also be available at www.bathgasworks.com from 25th May 2022.
The underutilised former gasworks, located off Windsor Bridge Road, forms part of the wider Bath Western Riverside area which is allocated for a high-density urban form development in Bath and North East Somerset Council’s adopted Development Plan.
The St William site has the capacity to accommodate approximately 600 – 650 new homes alongside public open space, non-residential uses, a sustainable transport route and areas dedicated to ecology.
Alison Dowsett, Managing Director at St William, said, “The Bath Gasworks site presents an exciting opportunity to create an inviting new neighbourhood on an underutilised, brownfield and sustainably located site which has long been identified for development by Bath and North East Somerset Council.
“Our proposals will provide a variety of new high-quality homes, an early-years children’s nursery, a new Sustainable Transport Route for pedestrians and cycles, employment opportunities and extensive public open space including a new ecological park adjacent to the River Avon.
“We look forward to working closely with the local community and stakeholders to deliver the next chapter in the evolution of the Western Riverside Quarter and fully realising the potential of this important site.”
Further stakeholder and community engagement and consultation activities will take place as the project progresses.
