For a second year, we’re celebrating Bath and North East Somerset’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2023, which this year took place on Wednesday 8th March.
In print and online this feature was one of our most read in 2022, so again, through our social media channels, we asked our followers to vote for the women who inspire them, and we created a list of 20.
The women will be featured in our spring Bath magazine and we will be profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.
This feature is sponsored by Milsted Langdon accountants. Milsted Langdon decided to support this activity as they are passionate about supporting women in business and helping local communities thrive through their work with business owners, charities and not-for-profits.
Gill Freeman, Partner and Head of Charity and Not-For-Profit at Milsted Langdon, said, “The business world is full of hugely talented and successful women who not only run businesses or work in demanding roles, but they often also juggle caring responsibilities at the same time. It’s important to highlight the contribution that women make to the wider community, and to support each other whilst encouraging and empowering the younger generations.”
Today we put the spotlight on Karen Weston, Campus Manager at TCNUK.
In recent months, Karen has become well-known in the Bath business community since taking up the position of Campus Manager at new creative business centre, Newark Works at Bath Quays.
Karen has worked as a Campus Manager for regeneration experts TCNUK since October 2021, starting at TCN’s Temple 1852 site in Bristol. She began her role in Bath in January 2022 and has been integral to the launch of the Newark Works site (formally the home of Stothert & Pitt on the Lower Bristol Road). Karen has worked hard to get to know the local business community, showcasing the property as a ‘creative place for creative minds’ and attracting new tenants to the building ahead of its launch in autumn 2022.
Karen was voted by her colleagues to be featured in this list. They said, “Karen’s an absolute powerhouse and go-getter. She continually comes up with creative solutions to difficult problems, while building a community and helping bring other innovators together. She’s a networker and a big thinker. We’re inspired by what she does and the many big accomplishments she’s made!”
Outside of work Karen is a bit of an Instagram sensation with 88.1k followers. Check out @kurlywavykaren where she shares styling tips for curly hair.
