AM to PM with Concinnity Consultancy’s Anna Goodship

By Ben Carey on 29 October, 2018

AM to PM is your exclusive insight into the busy schedules of some of Bath and Somerset’s top professionals.

Anna Goodship is Managing Director of financial consultancy company, Concinnity Consultancy Limited, based just outside of Bath.

From her position as Financial Director at a multi-million pound organisation, Anna identified a gap in the market for SMEs that need the expertise of a Finance Director but do not have the requirement or the budget to employ one full-time.

Concinnity Consultancy Ltd works with organisations to understand their financial requirements and offers flexible services tailored specifically to the business. Services range from helping companies set up financial processes and procedures through to management reporting, budgeting and cash flow planning.

What time do you get up?

I generally get up at 6.30am and that doesn’t tend to vary a lot. If I am at one of my client’s sites that means I can be there by 8.30am, or alternatively working at my desk at home by 8am. I do have the occasional 5am start if I need to be in London for an early meeting.

What helps you to get your day off on the right foot?

A nice hot shower, ideally with some gorgeous Elemis products followed by a cup of Earl Grey Tea!

What helps your day run smoothly?

Being super-organised. When I am at a client’s site often my time with key personnel will be limited, so it I find it really helps to have a schedule and thoroughly plan meetings in advance.

What’s your favourite place to go for lunch?

I love eating and am not fussy, so anywhere nice. Being based near Bath I have the benefit of being able to get the lunchtime deals – Thai Tapas, Bar and Block, Cosy Club, Graze…the list is endless.

What is the best part about your job?

I enjoy working with companies and individuals that value my input.  I also love the variety that comes with working with different clients and the flexibility of being my own boss.

What does a typical day involve?

My days can vary a lot.  If I’m working with clients I tend to be based at their offices. I think this works better as it’s more efficient and transparent, and I believe face-to-face input builds relations. Generally, I will spend time preparing important information such as management accounts, working on cash flow or meeting with the management team.

How do you set yourself up for the following day?

I pack my bag! As I work with various clients I tend to have a different notepad and folder for each one to keep everything well organised. I also I try to have a good night sleep!

How do you unwind after work?

A gym class, a delicious meal out, a trip to the cinema, a gorgeous spa, a glass of wine (or cocktail)…although not all on the same evening!
