22 for ’22: Celebrating Bath & Somerset’s Most Inspiring Women

By Anita Jaynes on 10 March, 2022

We’re celebrating Bath and North East Somerset’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2022 which this year takes place on Tuesday 8th March.

Through our social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 22 for ’22. The list is printed in our spring Bath magazine and from Tuesday 1st March, each weekday throughout the month we will be profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

This feature is sponsored by Milsted Langdon accountants. Milsted Langdon decided to support this activity as they are passionate about supporting women in business and helping local communities thrive through their work with business owners, charities and not-for-profits.

Gill Freeman, Partner and Head of Charity and Not-For-Profit at Milsted Langdon, said, “The business world is full of hugely talented and successful women who not only run businesses or work in demanding roles, but they often also juggle caring responsibilities at the same time. It’s important to highlight the contribution that women make to the wider community, and to support each other whilst encouraging and empowering the younger generations.”

Today we put the spotlight on Joanna Palmer, Founder of We Need To Talk Marketing.

Joanna Palmer started her marketing career in South of France when she was living in Cannes. She was working with the ex-pat and the superyacht communities to provide them with easy-to-use English language publications to make their everyday lives easier. It was here her love for providing assistance wherever possible, in whatever way possible, really grew. Having previously worked for two charities, support and awareness were the forefront of her working and personal life.

Since returning to the UK Joanna has remained with one toe in the water as Editor for Superyacht Technology Network and as a marketing consultant for dsnm Ltd as well as providing marketing strategy support and account management support to a number of local companies in the South West.

Providing a platform for businesses and individuals to be able to speak is essential to Joanna’s day to day life which is why she volunteers as part of the TEDxBath Comms team.

Joanna said, “It is my passion to spread the word, which is why marketing really is the perfect career for me. I adore my volunteer work with TEDxBath as it provides a safe encouraging space for people without bias to tell their story. The dialogue is always thought provoking and from the heart. As part of the 22 of ’22, I will continue to actively inspire people and businesses to be supportive, break the bias and encourage open conversation.”
