SelectScience Invests in Tomorrow’s World

Bath-based online publisher, SelectScience, has awarded a budding young scientist a special sponsorship that aims to help disadvantaged scientists attend university.

Student, Gerald Ruffell, received the sponsorship as part of the new Global Undergraduate Sponsorship Scheme launched by SelectScience which seeks to support the development of young scientists around the world throughout their studies as they work hard to become the next generation of leading scientists.

The company introduced the scheme after CEO, Arif Butt, decided he was keen to help young scientists worldwide. He said: “It’s important to give something back to the global scientific community and educate them on the importance and value of good communication. This helps us ensure that we’re working with scientists to make the future healthier.”

As an online publisher in the science industry, SelectScience claims it is “deeply committed” to giving back to the community and creating opportunities for others.

Gerald has just started a three-year BSc (Hons) degree in Biology at Cardiff University and is the first of his family to attend University. Despite limitations due to illness, he has high hopes of making a difference in the field of biology.

He said: “It’s been such an amazing opportunity to have been sponsored by SelectScience. The financial assistance has allowed me to focus so much more on my studies. I am honestly taken aback by their generosity.”

Formed in 1998, SelectScience serves the global scientific market by providing information and online marketing and film services to scientists around the world.
