Visit Bath has confirmed that its Visitor Information Centre will be moving from Abbey Chambers to Bridgewater House, Terrace Walk at the end of September. The company’s current site, overlooking Kingston Parade, is being taken on by Bath Abbey as part of the Abbey Footprint project.

The Visitor Information Centre, one of the busiest in the country, provides advice, tickets and information on Bath and the surrounding area. Visit Bath claims that the new location on Terrace Walk is “ideally” situated to welcome in bus and coach tours and visitors to the city and will be open six days a week, October – February and seven days a week, February – September.

David James, chief executive of Visit Bath explained, “We’re really looking forward to this new development for the business and the exciting times ahead that this move reflects. The sleek design of the new space will allow us to become more digitally interactive and offer an enhanced online retail, ticketing and tours service. Bath Box Office will have a significant presence within the centre now we have joined up with Bath Festivals.”

He continued, “We will also continue to sell local products from businesses such as Bath Gin, Alice Tate, Richard Briggs and Blockhouse Bath – supporting local businesses is extremely important to us.”

New facilities will include touch screens and marketing opportunities for Visit Bath members. Visit Bath’s back office will also be moving to a new site on Stall Street – possibly in October. The new lease is for a term of 15 years with 5 yearly reviews. Surveyors, Colston & Colston LLP, represented the Landlord and Bath Tourism Plus were represented by their in house management team.

Allan Lloyd, partner at Colston & Colston LLP, said, “our client is retiring, having occupied the premises for many years as a hair and beauty salon, and required steady income going forward from a robust tenant, which we were delighted to secure. That said, following the letting we are now considering disposing of this asset on behalf of our client and any interested parties should contact us on 01225 904704 to discuss availability.”
