A high spec site in Bath’s historic town centre is to be regenerated with new homes.
Developer Kersfield has appointed urban regeneration specialists Helm Construction to create seven apartments and one house on the site at 7-9 Lower Borough Walls.
Helm Construction is already working on another Kersfield scheme at nearby Walcot Yard.
Chief Executive Gary Sheppard said: “This is a familiar site just off the main shopping streets occupied by a set of buildings comprising the 18thCentury Hope Chapel with two 1950s extensions to the north and south.
“Some of the existing facade will be retained and the new homes will be finished to a high specification in keeping with the prestige location.
“This was a rather neglected site which hasn’t been used to its full potential despite occupying a prime position on one of the main routes from the Southgate Shopping Centre to Bath Spa.”
Developers Kersfield are active on a number of other sites in the vicinity and Gary Sheppard believes the new developments will be good news for the city.
“Given the recent headlines about the amount of student housing being built in to Bath’s central commercial areas, it is good to report that we will be building much-needed homes in the city centre.”
