The Ivy Bath Brasserie hosts first fundraising dinner

The Ivy Bath Brasserie has hosted its first fundraising event in aid of Bath Rugby Foundation.

The Milsom Street-based restaurant that opened its doors for the first time in October 2017, is in close proximity to many of the city’s famous destinations, including Bath Rugby Club, so “it seemed like a natural fit” to team up with the charitable arm of Bath Rugby, which exists to bridge the gap between Bath’s poorest and most affluent areas to build a positive, supportive community.

The Bath Rugby Foundation sold tickets for the event, hosted by club president David Trick, and also featuring ex-Bath and England player turned TV pundit David Flatman and fly-half for Bath and England, Freddie Burns. Guests enjoyed a champagne and canapé reception, followed by a three-course dinner, comprised of The Ivy Bath Brasserie’s classics.

A spokesperson for the event said “the beautiful Georgian building made the ideal backdrop for the evening” which saw guests listen to some insightful stories from the trio of players, past and present, and included a short auction of three amazing prizes. All proceeds from the evening, which raised over £9,100 were donated to Bath Rugby Foundation.

David Trick, president of the club and fundraiser at Bath Rugby Foundation said on the night: “It’s been a magnificent evening in a super venue and how fortunate we are that The Ivy Bath Brasserie chose us as a charity and have put this all on for us.”

Katja Kammerer, general manager at The Ivy Bath Brasserie added: “Rugby is such an important part of the fabric of Bath, so we knew we wanted to get involved and support the brilliant work of The Bath Rugby Foundation when we opened in the city. We’re thrilled that our first event was such a success, and can see this becoming an annual fixture in the The Ivy Bath Brasserie calendar.”

This inaugural charity event is just the start of the brasserie’s local initiatives planned for 2018.
