Interaction completes “inspirational” office refurb for Buro Happold

The Bath-based office design specialist, Interaction, has finished refurbishing the cafe and reception for engineering consultant, Buro Happold with the aim of “showcasing its identity and ingenuity.”

The company claims that after 6 weeks on-site, the refreshed design has brought the spaces up to date with the Buro Happold brand and describes the client as being “delighted” with the result.

The brief, in summary, was to update the two tired, outdated spaces that did not reflect the values and brand of Buro Happold. Being situated in the heart of Bath in a narrow 19th-century wharf building named Camden Mill that overlooks the River Avon, Buro Happold wanted the refurb to reflect its history and heritage in the design. Another key aspect of the brief was to reflect the work that it does, by “showcasing hints of engineering ingenuity” and giving the space an “architectural feel.”

The cafe is now fitted with “high-specification” catering facilities and furniture, as it needs to be versatile and able to cater for large groups. According to Interaction, the design that it created for the reception area creates an “inspirational entrance” for visitors to give them a lasting impression of the brand and its values. Interaction has also installed a contemporary and monolithic desk, which acts as a showpiece and focal point for the space. The natural, rustic and contemporary design has apparently been welcomed by all who now use these areas.

A spokesperson for Interaction said, “We have designed a sleek, contemporary but rustic feel for both spaces. The design of the cafe now flows more effectively, introducing a dedicated space for quick coffee stops, and generally, the overall feel is minimalistic and architectural.”

They continued, “The two spaces now do justice to the heritage of the building, and reflect the successful and prestigious brand of Buro Happold.”

Hayley Blacker, director for Interaction, added, “We were delighted to work with Buro Happold again and to create these refreshed spaces in another of Bath’s great buildings. It is really great to see the spaces so well received by the Buro Happold team and its visitors.”
