Guy Tullberg, managing director of the UK’s leading speciality condiments business, is the new Chair of the Bath and Wiltshire branch of the Institute of Directors.

Guy has significant experience of the challenges and opportunities for today’s SMEs. He has guided Wiltshire-based family business Tracklements through the ups and downs of the past 30 years, including expansion, succession planning and navigating a constantly changing legislative framework for food retail, while continuing to drive profitability and growth.

From modest beginnings in the 1980s, Tracklements now has a £4.5m turnover, employs 42 people at its headquarters in Easton Grey, Malmesbury and exports to 14 countries.

Guy presently sits on the committee of the Guild of Fine Foods steering group and was Director and Vice Chairman of Taste of the West.  He is also a mentor with The Collaborators and the Seed Fund, supporting fledgling food businesses in the region.

He said: “SMEs bring valuable innovation and employment to the region and creating the correct environment to allow those businesses to become profitable and sustainable in a constantly changing world through the sharing of experiences is an invaluable part of IOD membership. I will be supporting this through my chairmanship.

“Government and regional authorities need to make the path to growth as simple and unencumbered as possible and, in particular, lend its efforts and support for business seeking new markets and opportunities.”

Nick Sturge, South West chairman, said: “We are delighted that Guy is taking on this role and bringing with him his hands on experience of being a growing business in the South West.  Our SME community is a thriving one and we’re all hoping to benefit from Guy’s leadership role.”

Guy succeeds Jane Bishop, practice manager at Salisbury law firm Bonallack and Bishop, who steps down after a three year tenure.
