Carter Jonas, the national property consultancy, has expanded its business in the South West taking an additional 3,662 sq. ft. of space in St James House, The Square, Bath.

The new office will enable the commercial and rural teams at Carter Jonas to expand their services across the region. The market leading residential team, which includes sales and lettings as well as new homes, will remain at its existing base at Wood Street in the city centre.

Nationally, Carter Jonas has grown substantially over the last three years, increasing its turnover by 50 per cent, with its commercial business growing its revenue by more than 200 per cent over the same period. The move further strengthens Carter Jonas’ presence in the South West and follows the news earlier this year that the business has opened two new offices in Taunton and Truro, taking its total network of offices across the UK to 38.

Carter Jonas’ Bath office first opened in 2009 and the commercial and rural teams now comprise 32 qualified surveyors offering a comprehensive range of property services including: commercial, retail and rural agency, architecture and building consultancy, management, planning and valuations.

Scott Harkness, Partner and Head of Commercial, Carter Jonas, said: “This is an exciting new chapter for the team in the South West. Our expansion is a testament to the relationships that have been built with clients across the region, as well as the quality of service, expertise and local knowledge that we provide. Our national growth is reinforced by the achievements of our regional hub offices across the UK and Bath is a true success story. The commercial and rural teams have grown both in size and expertise over recent years with revenue increasing by 75 per cent since 2009.

“Activity in the South West market has been extremely positive, with occupier demand at its highest for several years and this has presented many new opportunities for the teams. Our new office space provides a modern, open-plan environment in a convenient location for access to Bath and the wider region, and an ideal platform for our future development.”

Regional REIT Limited acquired St James House in 2015 and since then it has undertaken a comprehensive refurbishment of the building. Lambert Smith Hampton advised London & Scottish Property, asset managers to Regional REIT Limited, on the transaction, Carter Jonas represented itself.
