Box Steam signs new sponsorship deal with Bath Rugby Ladies

Bath-based, Box Steam Brewery, has signed up for a second year as the exclusive beer sponsor for Bath Rugby Ladies.

The independent brewer, established in 2004, has developed a “close bond” with the team, who ended the 2016/2017 season as champions of the Women’s Championship South West 2 league. The continued partnership means that the brand’s logo will again appear on both the first and second team’s official kit.

Andy Roberts, managing director for Box Steam Brewery, said that the firm is “delighted” to keep the partnership going.

He explained, “supporting a local team is important to us and these women are passionate about rugby and bringing more people into the game.

“Sport is good for everyone and supporting our local community is something we are committed to doing. We wish the ladies the very best of luck with the new season. They did so well last year, it can only get better and better.”

Sarah Burgess, from Bath Rugby Ladies, added, “the support from Box Steam Brewery is exactly what we need. It’s thanks to their backing that we can keep our club alive and strive to be the best. We take our sport very seriously, and women’s sport itself is being taken more seriously. We want to be a part of that and are so pleased that Box Stream Brewery does too.

“For the players and all the people that support us, we are determined, more than ever to achieve our goals this season. We’re so grateful for the partnership with Box.”

Box Steam Brewery, which has its headquarters in Holt, near Bradford on Avon has Piston Broke, the Official Beer of Bath Ladies RFC, on tap at the Pulteney Arms in Bath, where the team apparently “enjoys a pint after a match.” In celebration of the start of the season, the Pulteney Arms’ chef has created The Pulteney Beef, Piston Broke Ale and Vegetable Pie, which is now on the menu.

Bath Rugby Ladies play at Lambridge. The next game for the first team is on Sunday 8 October against the Trojans.
