Bath to host charity founder’s centenary Ball

By Nick Batten on 8 August, 2017

The charity, Leonard Cheshire Disability, is to hold a Masquerade Ball on the evening of 23 September 2017 at the Assembly Rooms in Bath to celebrate 100 years since the birth of its founder, Group Captain Leonard Cheshire.

The event will be held in aid of Greenhill House, the local care home, which is based in Timsbury, 8 miles from Bath. It is hoped that a charity auction taking place at the event will raise over £10,000 towards continuing Leonard Cheshire’s legacy in ensuring disabled people have the freedom and opportunity to live the lives they choose.

Auction lots will include a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight VIP day for 4 and a 12-month membership for Team Bath Training Village Gym. The theme for the Ball will be “sport,” to draw inspiration from recent Paralympian achievements, and there will also be guest speakers from the Help for Heroes Invictus Games.

Neil Heslop OBE, chief executive for Leonard Cheshire Disability, said: “I am thrilled that celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Leonard Cheshire’s birth will be held in Bath to raise funds for Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Greenhill House service. Above all, we will recognise the contributions of our supporters and staff and by together sharing a wonderful evening to help improve the lives of the people with disabilities that our organisation exists to serve.”

Tickets for the event are now on sale at £95 per person.
