Every March thousands of people put on their running shoes and take part in the Bath Half, running the 13.1 mile two-lap course of our historic city and raising cash for great causes along the way.
As an official media partner, The Business Exchange has been speaking to some of the companies taking part in the iconic event to find out more about them and the causes they’re running for.
Here we profile Zak Paradise, Contracts Manager at The Flying Pig Renovation Company.

Company Description: The Flying Pig Renovation Company specialises in the renovation and refurbishment of period buildings. Our emphasis is on quality materials and quality craftsmanship, helping us to achieve the highest possible standards for every project.
Why did you decide to enter this year’s Bath Half? The Bath Half is a good challenge and a brilliant event. I have previously run the Bath Half seven times but in recent years I’ve been having a break. I wanted to get back running and try to beat the family record.
Tell us a bit about the charity and why you’re running for them: As a company we work closely with Bath Rugby Foundation, helping to boost the charity’s exposure and raise much needed funds to help local disadvantaged people. We have also signed up to sponsor their fundraising cycle ride in Italy for the second time. However, I am not able to cycle this year so I am focusing purely on the half marathon.
What are your expectations for the Bath Half? As it’s been a few years and I’ve only recently got back into running, I am running not for time but for achievement. If all goes well The Flying Pig Renovation Company will enter more people into the race next year.
How is your training going? Training is going good. I have upped the mileage and found my pace again. I try to leave work and run from the office, taking in parts of the Bath Half route along the way.
How will you celebrate once you’ve crossed the finish line? With a cold pint and a good roast dinner with my family.
