Bath firms sign up to new CityStasher luggage scheme

A new ‘sharing economy’ solution for left luggage is proving popular among Bath’s visitors. The business, called CityStasher, aims to connect people looking for short-term luggage storage with shops and small businesses who can safely store them.

CityStasher claims that the offering is proving “a hit” with day trippers and those checking out of local Airbnb’s. According to CityStasher, the network allows people to make the most of the day without the hassle of dragging around heavy bags or suitcases and is a “great opportunity” for local business to earn additional revenue as well as drive footfall to their premises.

So far, two local businesses have signed-up to the CityStasher network. The ‘StashPoints’, as they are called, are Bath Luggage Storage Centre and the Old Station on Manvers Street. Each location is assessed for security before joining the network and every bag left is fitted with a security tag and insured for up to £750. Customers book ahead via the CityStasher website, pay online, then simply drop the bags off. It costs £4 for 3 hours or £6 for 24 hours.

To date, over twenty-five thousand bags have been stashed at StashPoint locations across the UK. Having only recently signed up, it is hoped that Bath will follow suit, as the scheme’s success in cities such as Edinburgh and Cambridge is encouraging more small businesses to sign up in the South West.

Anthony Collias, one of the CityStasher founders, said, “It’s wonderful to see our idea being met with such a warm reception in Bath. We wanted to create a simple solution to the ‘what shall we do with our bags dilemma’ and the take-up across the country proves there’s a real need for it. It’s such a simple concept, one that benefits visitors and local businesses alike, and we can’t wait to see the CityStasher network grow in the beautiful city of Bath.”

CityStasher now has over 100 locations throughout the UK.
